What is Scotch?

Scotch is a distilled malt whisky or grain whisky, or a blend of the two, made in Scotland. All Scotch whisky is aged immediately after distillation in oak barrels for at least three years. In order for Scotch to legally be Scotch, it has to come from Scotland (the same way Champagne has to come from the region of France, Champagne).
