Product Details
The iconic dry grown Schober’s vineyard in the heart of the Clare Valley was first planted in 1977 by the family of that name and is widely regarded as one of the finest red table wine vineyards in Australia. Schober’s stems from the German word for 'Haystacks'. The picturesque single vineyard is set at 350 metres above sea level on rich alluvial soils over limestone with favourable rainfall and climate. Acquiring this iconic vineyard and wine sourced from it was like finding a needle in a haystack, hence the name of this outstanding wine. The vineyard enjoys a rich history with the Leasingham Classic Clare range sourced from it including the 1995 Jimmy Watsons Trophy winner made by David O'Leary as was this wine which was made in small 2 and 4 tonne open fermenters for 20 days and hand plunged over that period to coax the rich fruit flavour and great depth of colour and tannin. Drink now or be rewarded by cellaring for up to 7 years. Please enjoy.
