Fifth Leg likes to explore great questions over a good wine: like why was a fossilised skeleton of a Tasmanian Tiger found in the Devil's Lair cave in WA and why was a mysterious 'fifth leg' found with the remains? Fifth Leg has developed a reputation as a 'refined larrikin' - serious about wine and the good things in life, but not at the expense of simple, easy-going fun.Â
Fifth Leg Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Merlot
This wine is a berry hat trick! Tempting aromas of blackberry, cherry and blueberry are all wrapped up by spicy, savoury oak. To add a little cheek, there are subtle cigar box and minty overtones which make for a heavenly drop. Delicious with spicy Italian sausages, a comfy chair and a good book.Â
Abundant winter and spring rainfall replenished parched soils allowing healthy vine growth in spring. An excellent dry and consistent summer produced lower than average yields across most blocks but with generous concentration, mouthfeel and bright flavours. Cooler night temperatures towards harvest allowed the red varieties to concentrate flavours and soften tannins.
